The OGT-2019 conference discusses key aspects of industry development in the region
Global trends in the development of energy markets and prospects for interaction became the topic of the first plenary session of the Turkmenistan Oil and Gas 2019 conference, which opened today in Ashgabat. At it, representatives of the largest players in the regional energy market – the Turkmen state concern Turkmengaz and the Azerbaijani company SOCAR – presented pipeline projects of both countries.
The extensive pipeline gas supply system of Turkmenistan is a complex but effective network of domestic energy pipelines connected to export destinations. A significant place among them is occupied by 3 branches of the Turkmenistan-China pipeline, through which about 35-40 billion cubic meters of natural gas are supplied to China; the construction of the fourth branch will increase this volume to 65 billion.
The key direction is the TAPI gas pipeline with a design capacity of 33 billion cubic meters of gas per year and the development of infrastructure along it – laying power lines and fiber optic lines.
Presentations were also made by the president of the Anglo-American company Gaffney, Cline & Associates, Nathon Meehan, Vitol Group CEO Russell Hardy, CNPC Vice President Van Jonsai and World Bank expert Alexander Hurdeman.
